Hello! This is a children's poetry site designed for a summer library science course. Here you will find poetry by well-known and lesser- known poets. You will also find an author study of Karla Kuskin, the writer of many children's poetry and picture books.

My name is Barbara Katz and I live in Dallas, Texas. A mature student, I am working on my MLS at Texas Woman's University. During the school year, I am a school librarian at a private school campus that includes grades PreK through two. I have worked in the library field, both in public and school libraries, for over ten years. I am passionate about children's literature and poetry, and I invite you to share this passion with me!

Welcome to my web site!

If you're not a poetry fan, I hope you will become one!

Step into the world of poetry. To get you started, here's a quote by Karla Kuskin:

"If there would be a recipe for a poem, these would be the ingredients: word sounds, rhythm, description, feeling, memory, rhyme, and imagination. They can be put together a thousand different ways, a thousand, thousand...more."

"The poem is a confesson of faith." -- Emerson
